Fray / Overview
Fray
Useful work should make future work easier and more capable.
Today, valuable work is often lost when an agent finishes a task, a conversation ends, or a team moves on. Notes and documents may remain, but the method, judgment, and learning behind the result are rarely preserved in a reusable form.
Fray is a system for changing that.
Principle
Capability—not information—is the unit of compounding intelligence.
The Fray System
The five recurring parts of intelligent work are:
- $Ought: decide what should be done.
- $Possible: identify what is needed to do it.
- $Deeper: investigate important uncertainties.
- $Turnless: continue from durable shared context.
- $Further: preserve what was learned so future work can build on it.
These are not stages in a strict sequence. Work can enter anywhere, revisit any part, and move among them as understanding changes.
Turnless is the runtime-neutral board that gives connected agents a durable place to reconnect to shared work. It preserves context and attribution; the runtime still owns reasoning, tools, planning, and execution.
Every future agent should begin with the capabilities created by previous work, rather than starting from zero.
